DEPRESSION - Common Mental Illness
It is commonly experienced emotion in response to loss, disappointment or hurt. For some people these feelings are short-lasting and can be considered a ‘distress’ state in reaction to life difficulties. When this emotional state/depression lasts for a long period of time, typically more than 2 weeks, and starts to interfere with life then it needs to be treated.
KEY FEATURES OF DEPRESSION:Physical:- Tiredness and a feeling of weakness and laziness.
- Aches and pains all over the body.
- Disturbed sleep (usually worse, but occasionally too much sleep)
- Poor appetite (sometimes increased appetite)
- Reduced sex drive
